It doesn't get much better than a morning on Lake Michigan! I met the Curtis Family before the sun came over the sand dune and captured their family as they played on the steps, splashed in the waves, and snuggled in the sand by their family cottage!

Baby Ella has already brought so much joy into the Stob Family! She has the BEST cheeks and the most content disposition. At 8 days old, she already has a pretty great collection of hair bows and headbands. :) Ella was wide awake for much of the afternoon--didn't want to miss anything her big brother was up to! We played and read books and snuggled on the couch until she finally fell asleep. Congratulations, Mike and Dana, on your beautiful girl!

This session with the Still family from last month was pretty special for a couple of reasons. First, we were documenting their new family of 5 since Miss Ava Jane joined their family this spring! Secondly, these photos were taken within weeks of their family moving away. We wanted to capture their family photographs in some of their favorite places in Rockford--adventuring by the dam and running up and down the boardwalks. Then we topped off the evening at their favorite local ice cream

This session goes down as one of my most favorites ever. Laura and Jeremy are so welcoming and fun and have the two sweetest boys. We started at their home in order to play with trucks, quilts, and the piano! Then we ventured to Calvin College to enjoy the fresh air and spring blooms. DARLING. ALL OF IT.

This was a special session because this new mama was my first college roommate! 10 years ago we were figuring out life away from home for the first time. Now Janine and Ben are figuring out life as a family of three! Brooklyn Mae wasn't very sleepy during our morning session but she is a little doll and was calm and content the whole time! This was my first time ever shooting a session in a studio and what fun it was! Russ and Nora made sure we explored every nook and cranny. It was a perfect way to spend a cold February afternoon. And these photos turned out to be a Valentines Day surprise for their Daddy! So sweet!

These two. They found each other on the west coast and plan to marry on the east coast. I guess it makes sense that we took these photos somewhere in the middle--in Kentucky where we grew up,--to commemorate their relationship and their engagement. Since our days of Barbie houses and playing MASH I've tried to imagine the man who would marry my sister. And now here we are...four days from their wedding day. We feel pretty good about Tyler. :) He loves being outside and board games and craft beer and my sister. Seems perfect.

This mama knows how to throw a party! The house was decorated just perfectly for the special two year old. A full house of family and friends gathered to celebrate. Ice cream was the perfect treat for this hot summer evening. Jonathan loved when everyone sang Happy Birthday and was so cute as he blew out the birthday candle. :)

Summer Stroll for Epilepsy

1 in 26 people has epilepsy or will develop epilepsy at some point in their lives. 1 in 26 people can be: full of joy! I've had the privilege to walk alongside the Busscher family for the past two years at the annual Summer Stroll for Epilepsy. What a joy-filled day! This has been a powerful way for their family and community to support their daughter, Morgan. The event is empowering and uplifting, and you get to walk through the John Ball Zoo! SO fun!

We've been friends with Andrew and Emily since we were Freshman at Calvin (basically babies ourselves). What a joy--and how surreal--it was to meet their son, Arthur John. Clara got her first snow experience this year and LOVED it! We were so excited to get photos of her on her new sled but the weather didn't cooperate much this winter. It was either bitterly cold or completely melted away. Finally at the very end of February, we got a surprise snow day and the PERFECT sunny sledding day! Never grow out of that darling snowsuit--ok Clara?

I've known this girl since she was a middle schooler. And I've been blessed to really get to KNOW her in the past couple years. I've seen her laugh (always) and cry and make weird faces and dance and pray and encourage everyone around her. She is a GEM. Ashley Grace is gorgeous and has a beautiful heart.
